Use case
Turn a school letter into dates in the calendar
Six pages of newsletter with three dates buried in it. Forward it once and every date, deadline and bring-this comes out, with the reminder landing the evening before — not the morning you are already in the car.
Forward the letter as a PDF, an email or just a photo of the crumpled note from the bag. Nexy reads it, pulls out every date, deadline and thing-to-bring, puts them in the calendar, and sets the reminder for the evening before — for both parents at the same time, in the chat you already share.
What it looks like
You[photo of a school newsletter]
NexySix dates in there. Three need something brought: swimming kit Tue 14th, €4.50 trip money before Fri 17th, costume for the play Thu 23rd. The other three are just dates.
YouPut them all in and remind us both.
NexyDone. Reminders land the evening before. I've put them in the chat with Sanne too, so neither of you has to pass it on.
NexyMonday 20:10 — Tomorrow: swimming kit for Noor. Towel and goggles.
One photo in, six dates out, and the reminder arrives at the point where you can still put the swimming things by the door.
How to do it
- Forward whatever you have: the PDF, the email from school, a screenshot of the app, or a photo of the paper note. You do not have to retype anything.
- Nexy reads it and shows you what it found — dates, deadlines, and the things that have to be brought or paid — before it puts anything in.
- Say who else should get them. The other parent, a grandparent, the childminder. They need no app and no account.
- The reminders land the evening before, when you can still act. Trip money gets reminded before the deadline, not on it.
- Anything you have already dealt with, you say so once, and it drops off for you while staying live for whoever has not.
Why it works
Where it stops
It reads what you give it and nothing else. That boundary is on purpose.
Questions people ask
How do I get the dates out of a school newsletter without reading all six pages?
Forward it — as the PDF, the email, a screenshot of the school app, or a photo of the paper note. Nexy reads the whole thing and comes back with just the dates, the deadlines and the things that have to be brought or paid, separated out, so you can look at a list of five lines instead of six pages.
Can it read a photo of a crumpled letter from the bottom of a school bag?
Yes, and that is the normal case rather than the exception. A phone photo at an angle, slightly creased, half in shadow, works. If a particular line genuinely cannot be read it says which line it could not read rather than guessing at it.
Will both parents get the reminder, or do I have to forward it again?
Both, at the same moment, in the chat you already share. That is the part that stops one parent becoming the household's messaging service. It also works with an ex-partner, a grandparent or a childminder, because the other side does not need an app or an account to receive it.
When does the reminder arrive — on the day or before?
The evening before, because that is the last moment the problem is still solvable. At 8pm you can put the swimming things by the door or find €4.50 in a drawer. At 8am, on the way to school, the same message is just information about something that has already gone wrong.
Does it handle the money and the things to bring, or only the dates?
Both, and it keeps them apart, because they fail for different reasons. Everybody remembers that the trip is on Friday; what gets forgotten is the €4.50 and the packed lunch. Those get their own reminder at their own moment, usually earlier than the date itself.
Does it need access to the school's parent portal or my email account?
No. There are no credentials and nothing is logged into. You forward the one letter you want read, and that is the only thing it sees. Nothing else in your inbox is opened in order to look for more dates.
What if the school changes a date afterwards?
Forward the new letter the same way. Nexy matches it to what it already has, tells you what moved, and updates the reminder rather than leaving you with two versions. The people you shared it with get the change, not a second copy of the original.
Can I use this for things that are not school — a club, a nursery, a sports team?
Yes. Anything that arrives as a letter, a PDF or a photo and has dates and bring-this items inside it works identically: swimming lessons, scouts, a nursery newsletter, a team's fixture list. The pattern is the same — somebody writes a complete document, and two or three lines in it actually need doing.

One reminder, into the group once, and personally for whoever taps. The people who already did the thing are left alone — which is the whole difference between a reminder and nagging.
